Why Nigeria & Aba?

Project Second Home is dedicated to addressing the urgent needs of young mothers and abandoned children in Southeastern Nigeria. The region is heavily impacted by early pregnancies, child marriages, and abandonment. Nigeria has one of Africa’s highest teenage fertility rates (102 births per 1,000 girls aged 15-19 in 2020), and the number of abandoned children is rising sharply. This creates a wave of poverty and health risks that cut young mothers off from education.

Why Aba?

Aba is a major commercial hub in the region with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. The city’s economic drive makes it the ideal location for vocational training and support programs that can help young mothers transition quickly into employment and independence.
